The black wrought iron gate across the drive leading to Robert Walden's home was a little further off the road than Johnny had anticipated. Johnny thought to himself, "Ronald was right. I could have found this a lot easier in the day light." The house was a good ways off the road, close to a half mile by Johnny's estimate. He stopped and looked around with his spotlight and deduced that it would be impossible to park the car next to the house and turn his wrecker around so he could leave without driving through the front and side yards. That probably would have been alright with Walden, but since Johnny didn't know where the septic tank was...

"Do you know if Chief Barnes and Agent Smith are still at the River Road and Highway 700 roadblock?"

"No, but we can call over the radio and ask." Grisby answered.

"Nah, don't bother. It's only a few miles from here and I'll be driving through that intersection anyway. On a different note, do you have a record of the vehicles that have come through this intersection?"

"We've only been out here for an hour or so, and Johnny's tow truck and you are all we've seen so far. But I copied Officer Williams' notes."

"Well, I don't know what they did, and to be quite honest with you, I don't want to know. It must be something pretty bad though for the Feds to be after them." Simmons said as he studied the card.

Just as Simmons was replacing the gas cap on Tuttle's car, Johnny pulled the tow truck around front with the Suburban in tow...

Several hours had passed. Billy was asleep and from what Louise could tell he was running a pretty good fever. At first, she would lift her head from beneath the tarp to look out the window at the Post Office about every 20 to 30 minutes. But that got way too risky as the day wore on. People were out and about all over the place now. They were just going to have to wait until after dark and the shop closed for the evening to emerge from the back of the Suburban. They were going to need to come up with a new game plan as well.

Suddenly Johnny heard more noise coming from around back. He shook his head smiling as he retrieved his 12-gauge shotgun from beneath the counter. "I hate that I might have to kill one of the varmints but left unchecked they can cause a lot of problems and damage."

Tuttle took note that the fireplace was clean - no ashes, which seemed strange since it was in the middle of winter. He got down on his knees and looked up the chimney and saw the antenna wire. The end of which had been coiled up and secured out of sight. "This is definitely the right place." he said as he uncoiled the wire and stretched it out into the room.

They were fairly certain that the fugitives were no longer on either Kiawah or Seabrook islands, but there was still a good chance they could apprehend them. They still needed to traverse either John's or Wadmalaw island to exit the area.

They had both determined that getting some rest would have to wait. Smith, who was studying a Charleston County Street map said, "Hopefully, by now the Charleston County Sheriff's Department is fully involved in the search. Let's take Folly Road to Hwy 700 and then to River Road."

As they were making their way back to the sofa in the next room, Billy, with as much empathy as he could muster, said, "You know we can't keep him around. He's too volatile and carelessly endangers the whole operation. We can't just send him on his way either. He's vindictive and knows too much." "I knew he had a bad temper before we got married, but I had no idea of the extent. I... I thought I could help him change." Louise's eyes were filling with tears, and one trickled down her cheek as her lower lip began to quiver.
