Sight Purpose

The purpose of this site is to impart a feeling and appreciation for the area of South Carolina where I "grew up" (I use that term loosely) and for the past 24 years my wife, children, and now grandchild has thrived. From time to time, different members of my family will be posting articles.  I place a great deal of value on their input and truly believe that visitors to this site will benefit greatly from their contributions.

Future posts will feature sites worth visiting and historic truths worth noting, as well as: upcoming events; local art and music; cycling trails and tours; and fun and entertainment for the whole family.

Thank you for visiting this site and please visit again.  We look forward to becoming your source of discovery and information about the Charleston and Lowcountry area.

Update: 6 June 2016

Hi, My name is Steve Vail - owner and creator of this site. I first decided to create a blog in an effort to learn the fundamentals of website design and development. I also thought it might be nice to make a little money while I was at it. I did some research and made a determination to create a site using the popular content management system (CMS) "WordPress". Next, I knew I should blog about something of which I am passionate and have at least some reasonable amount of knowledge. Well, Charleston and the surrounding South Carolina Lowcountry area came to mind immediately. I established an account with Google Adsense and began publishing articles.

Three years have come and gone and my goal to learn the fundamentals of website design and development has been reached. Today I am re-launching this site utilizing my own CMS of which I created using the integrated development environment (IDE) NetBeans, XAMPP, mySQL database, HTML, CSS, Javascript, and the server-side language PHP. If visitors to this site enjoy it even half as much as I enjoyed creating it, I will count that as a huge success. I'm interested to know if you like what you see, as well as what you may think of the site's content, so please leave a comment.
